Law 112 of 2019 creates the distinctive logo for Panamanian products or products manufactured in Panama.

Law 112 of November 18, 2019, creates a logo MADE IN PANAMA. Natural or legal persons interested in using the logo must obtain authorization from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI).

Requirements to apply for the logo MADE IN PANAMA

The requirements to obtain the distinctive logo of MADE IN PANAMA vary depending on the sector. However, these are some general requirements established by the MICI:

  • Complete application form
  • Complete technical data sheet for products with or without transformation depending on the industry
  • Send documentation requested by the MICI to hechoenpanama@mici.gob.pa
  • Keep an eye on the e-mail, where you will receive, within a period not exceeding 10 days, the response of approval or non-approval of the logo, along with the logo and its manual of use.

In addition to the requirements mentioned above, it will also be mandatory to clearly indicate the description of the product that will display the logo. It must also demonstrate that the products are produced and manufactured in the national territory.

If the logo is used without authorization, there will be sanctions according to Industrial Property regulations.
