REAL ESTATE

Purchase & Sale

Panama has a very well established Public Registry Office, whereas all titled properties are duly listed, in order to guarantee the country’s property legal stability.

When engaging into contract, it is standard to first sign a preliminary contract, known as the “Promise of Purchase or Selling Agreement”, where the parties get obligated with each other, and an earnest money payment is released.

Thereafter, the required documents for selling the property are prepared, such as paying the transfer taxes and getting the property clearance certificates; in one hand, and in the other, the buyer gets sufficient time to gather the funds for the purchase (when a bank loan is involved), and to do his due diligence.

When purchasing or selling a property in Panama, it is advised to be assisted by an experienced attorney, so that you are assured to have your interests guarded.
